Lisa's London Marathon Training

Our very own Senior Fundraising Support Advisor has taken on not one but two crazy challenges.  The first of these is to run this year’s London Marathon and the second is that she has pledged to raise £2000 for her chosen cause, the National Hospital of Neurology and Neuroscience.

With around 3 months left to train Lisa has stepped her regime up another gear.  We will be keeping you updated on her training and fundraising progress.  Here is her latest instalment.

“Training is going well and I am on schedule with the regime.

I tend to complete one long run during the weekends (upping my mileage each week) – so I can get out in daylight and then at least two shorter runs in the week. That means either getting up at the crack of dawn and running in the morning before work or getting home and donning the running shoes in the evening (cue high-vis jacket)

This weekend was a gruelling 13 miles, but I was happy that I didn’t ache the following day. I am taking this as a sign that I am getting fitter. However the prospect that I am only at the half way stage still makes me realise this challenge is still miles away (excuse the pun).

I am engrossed in reading about running- autobiography’s, techniques – how to save your feet – all useful and informative, I’m picking up new information each day and boring my friends and colleagues with the particulars. Its only 93 days to go and counting

I have now created my online fundraising page and am ready to get this out to friends, family and colleagues http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-web/fundraiser/showFundraiserPage.action?userUrl=LisaRadjenovic&faId=65445&isTeam=false.”

Keep checking back to see how Lisa is getting on with her training and her fundraising towards her massive target.  Some of her training tips might also come in handy to improve your fitness for your expedition!
